Check out the first blog by our Rugby correspondents all the way from the UK...

rugby-roadtrip1-300.jpgIt wasn't just the World Cup that kicked off this week - our 7-week Backpacker Campervan tour also got underway with much excitement.

Flying in to Auckland, we had a one-night stop in the capital before flying down to Christchurch to pick up our home for the next couple of months.

Seeing the devastation caused by Feburary's earthquake was a humbling way to begin the trip, and it was sad to speak to local people frustrated that the rest of the country was gearing up for a tournament in which they would play no part.

After paying our respects, we were finally on the road, with a 5-hour drive to Dunedin down the east coast of the South Island. As we came over the hill, the views across Dunedin were incredible as the sun shone, and the new Otago Stadium stood tall and proud awaiting it's moment in the spotlight.

The first weekend of the tournament sees England take on Argentina, and we've set up camp in the Top 10 Holiday Park just outside the city, desperately excited about the rugby and our trip ahead.

From Dunedin, we'll head to party capital Queenstown for the week, and then returning to Otago for England's two next group stage matches. After that, we'll be spending two weeks travelling north to Auckland for the knockout stages, via Milford Sound, Wanaka, Fox Glacier, Abel Tasman, Wellington and Taupo!

rugby-roadtrip2-300.jpgWe'll also have time to take in the Cormandel Peninsula and the Bay of Islands towards the end of the trip, so I think we'll see most of New Zealand's highlights - although there are too many to count.

We'll be producing a weekly diary, with photos and videos thrown in where relevant, so follow us for the ride and keep an eye out for further updates!
